Sunday afternoon, June 28th, Star of Kings

Jake Pemberton
Sunday, June 28th at Star of Kings was a really fun afternoon and kicking off the comedy was the hilarious Aarian Mehrabani, the boy who lived, much to the distress of his family and loved ones. After Aarian was Andrew Steel and why he objects to the body dysmorphia of bumble bees. Next was MJ and the most unforgettable tale of musical theatre and rail safety. Roger Gewolb then told us how glad he was to be performing for such a young crowd; his last one’s age average was deceased. It was then over to Jake Pemberton (pictured) and the trauma of being buff and wet at the same time before Pyjama Man got wrapped in inches set for the last time. We then had Ellis Strong and the assisted loving facility that he runs. Closing the first half was the simply fabulous Kim Hope, the only triple G&B award winner, and all round awesome G&B mug “collector”.
After the break Steven Mayne got the second half off to a great start with some nostalgia of his first gig and his first cup and his first killer heckle. Next was Anton Potasyev and why he had to leave his pro-Putin cat behind. It was then over to James Streeter and why it’s very risky to make any more Toy Story movies now Andy’s a certain age. After James was Grace Groves and why she appeals to a rather dodgy demographic at times. We then had Andrew Conway who’ll happily furnish you with a laminated list of London’s dodgy saunas. Iftee Hussain then told us about the true test of becoming British: when you find yourself arguing about the quality of oat milk. Our penultimate act was the fabulous Amber Phillips who explained just how some subtle translation deviations can seriously affect the outcome of a sentence. Closing the show was the hilarious Lottie Grogan who educated the crowd and the comics about the inner subtleties of comedy and Godzilla’s battle readiness
