Monday, July 14th, Star of Kings

Steph and Kayleigh
We had a great time at The Star of Kings last night – beginning with Mac O’Donnell, whose set is so criminal, the bad guys hand themselves in. Next up was Steph Ventriloquist (pictured) – her companion did her best to pick up one of the gents in the audience cause he looked like the bus from Harry Potter – a wild night ride. We then had Charlie Firth, fresh from going to see Jimmy Carr. Charlie fully expected Jimmy to offer his mum a good seeing-to…but no, that was, apparently, his therapist’s line. It was then over to @manuelasali who hails from Mexico City – though his sombrero has had such a shock arriving in England, it immediately shrunk. @alexanderpop then gave the quintessential British upper-class tragedy: Ocado bringing the wrong Chianti. Nick Morey then shared his joy at reaching his 40s – the ‘high earner’ phase of life. Well, he’s one of those two, anyway. Closing the first half was the fabulous Paul Little. Paul got a sitter to come to the gig – or rather, to come home to someone after a gig, as he’s got no kids yet – unless you count his girlfriend’s, who apparently has a rather smashing pair.
Our second half kicked off with a bit of magic from Darren Delaney – Magician, where we all wondered at cutlery transformation and bodies giving away…well! Next was Barbora Beránková. Barbora was surprised she was booked, as usually you don’t book a Barbora unless you’re a fan of hip replacements. We then had Kim Hope – Kim doesn’t feel she fits in with the thieves here, especially the ones who have upskilled to operating on the underground – those kidneys aren’t gonna remove themselves. Next was Susan Heather Kitcatt, who lost her job working for the Samaritans. Apparently if someone’s contemplating jumping in front of a train, you’re not supposed to ask them to stay on the line. Hannah Elsy (Elsy H Ham) then shared an excellent strategy to keep your ex by your side: give his noggin a good bang on the poolside, and he’ll think he’s never left you. Following Hannah was Godfrey Mercado who, being Filipino, doesn’t get misgendered – he gets misAsianed. @Luísacoelhodasilva then gave us her enviable financial status: she’s not broke, she’s financially dynamic. That money just goes everywhere. Our penultimate act was Phil Green, who is doing his bit for humanity: luring wandering middle-aged divorced men back to his lair for a bit of rehabilitation via old-school humor and pork scratchings. Closing the show was the hilarious Siobhan Dodd. Siobhan assures us she doesn’t flash her chest for drinks ALL the time – especially when a ‘male feminist’ tells her not to. Siobhan then led us in a sidesplitting signing tutorial, thanks to which we all know how to ask for a multiple BJ. You never know.
So that was our show! There’s no show at the Star on Monday 21st, but you can join us at the Royal George Charing Cross Road this Sunday (yes it’s in Soho this Sunday) with a double whammy of female fierceness, with the fabulously funny Kim Hope and the mellifluous marvel that is Barbara Fernandez (me!)
