Monday night at The Star of Kings was our Music & Character Comedy show. We’ve been doing these for over 9 years now and they have got to be my favourite shows of all our themed nights. You never know just what kinda crazy you’re gonna get! First to the stage was the musical talents of Louis Turner and everything from vegan blow-jobs to nuclear blow-outs. It was then over to Kyriakos Vlachos who gave us his musical number dedicated to the tablet that cured his “enthusiasm”. Erin Hunter then gave us some musical numbers on subjects like the Tour de France and Mumsnet apres ski. New face to G&B, Jeffrey Soh, then warned us that we really should listen to our mums or you could indeed go blind. John Davies then hit us with the oddest strip before the fabulous Eoghan Collins reminisced of his school days when his face was caged and his pubes were long.
After the break, and my all time favourite bit of card magic, we got off to a cracking start thanks to Dominic Edwards (aka Tom Draper) and his ground-breaking 21st century manifesto…even if it was a bit late. It was then over top Seb Fisher and everything from Oppenheimer to foot fetishes and the 3 little piggies. Marigold Lately (pictured) then told us she was no fan of envelope lickers. And no, that’s not a euphemism. Closing the show was the incredible Colin D.H. Smith. Possibly one of the most popular acts to have tread the board at G&B over the years and one who never fails to have the room slack jawed with incredulity and laughter. Last night’s marvellous mess was Colin’s take on the mystery of child birth. Now less of a mystery…I think.
Well that was another gloriously crazy Music & Character comedy night. Headlining next Monday at The star of kings we have the brilliant Marc Salmon and the comedy coolness of Kwami Odoom.
