Monday night at The Star of Kings turned out to be a really fun night. First to the stage was Stanislav Gunko and the secret to a happy marriage: live in separate countries. It was then over to Kevan Hall and just what Boxing Day is best for. After Kevin was Mahesh Khilnani and the ventriloquial dirty old man. Next was Gareth Neale and why Margery’s funeral was a real laugh. George Lester then explained why dogs on horseback would have messed with our heads pre-internet before Amogh Margoor explained the real favourite British sport is actually tax evasion. Rosie Wood then gave us everything from modelling to comedy and hot said eczema. Our next act, Sara Louise Aston, ended up costing herself a fortune thanks to her on stage sewer box before Jo Bodley handed out feel good endolphins. Closing the first half was Marc Salmon. Marc put the world’s problems to rights, starting with those unwanted erections.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Declan Evans and how his success at school lead him to stand-up. It was then over to Mark Daniels and the great depression: aka his mum. After Mark was Peter Higgins and the disappointment inherent in “The Deal of The Century”…so early on in the century. After Pete was Paul Irwin has decided, after an incident in Tesco, that he’s just going to embrace his baldness. The hilarious Neil Davies was next with a tale of septuagenarian love. It was then over to Sneha Sadani who hates raves, music and all things social. Eytan Bayme then confessed to being willing to convert to any faith, so long as the “benefits” are right. Closing the first half was the brilliant Kwami Odoom (pictured). Kwami wonders if he’s ready and mature enough to bring up a kid of his own. By popular consensus the mood seemed, NO!
So that was Monday at The Star of Kings. Headlining next Monday we have the fabulous Max Norman.
