We had a lovely show at the Star of Kings Sunday – a shorter lineup but an oh-so-happy vibe! Starting us off was Jack Short who dreams of spinach and egg pots…when he’s not inadvertently staring down tube passengers having a nosh. Peter Withers then painted a picture for us of growing up with 2 blind parents – you haven’t lived till you’ve played chicken while strapped in a pushchair. Cathy White was next, donned with a fab dress which demonstrated her status as a cat lover – along with her age and single status (yes it’s a secret club). We then had Jijeesh K Jaimon who is Indian not only by race, but by choice – he treats the UK with the respect it deserves, by only carrying out British-friendly crimes. Our final act of the first half was Nicky Vere-Compton whose dad may have felt cheated when Nicky wasn’t born a flying saucer, but her audience (mustache) interactions are proof it’s funnier to be a human life form.
Our second half opened with Louis Beer (pictured). Louis says there’s no need for complicated talks to bring peace to the Middle East – Lindt has that handled, thanks to one of their master chocolatiers, who even brings bell chokers for the occasion. Following Louis was Jonathan Stadlen who describes his hair colour as shell-shock white. If only it hadn’t happened age 17 – but then what better way to reassure your girlfriend’s parents at that age by having them meet ‘dad’ first. After Jonathan was Val Pop whose rejection kink makes post-Brexit UK the sexiest place for her to be. We then discovered thanks to Ben Roberts that being a child star isn’t all it’s cracked up to be – it isn’t all Pom Bears to keep those cheeks chubby. Following Ben was our own Andrew Perkins, whose kazoo may gently weep, but it might have weeped less gently if it had been at his latest medical appointment for his tender areas…at least he now has a licence to come. Closing the show was the wonderful Ashish Scientist Suri, who bemoans the missing opportunities of the colonization of India: 200 years of occupation, and not a single dollop of hummous. Just ask his girlfriend Clementine…or was that Satsuma? Tangerine? Easy Peeler? (!)
So that was our show and it was a lot of fun. Next Sunday join us for a show with two awesome headliners, the fabulous Callum Mackenzie and, doing her first ever G&B headline spot, the adorable silliness of Nicky Vere-Compton.
