Sunday January 11th we were at The Royal George Charing Cross Road. It was a fun, busy afternoon and the first act to the stage was the fabulously funny Julie (aka Tracey Bowman), our favourite Ann Summers rep. Julie had the full range of new outfits including the naughty nurse and the delicious dinner lady. It was then over to Amber Phillips and the New Year knicker audit before Andrew Conway told us he was the guy for info on the best sleazy gyms. Next was Aieshvarya Bute, who just discovered where many single, Indian men can be found. We then had Katy Barber, who has a bit of an ill-timed crush on Steve Irvine. After Katy was Paul Rowinski, who told us about the comedy workshop he’s starting, but it ain’t cheap. It was the the turn of Eddie Rojas and the quirks of murder suicide before James Streeter let us in on his “interesting” dating history. Barbara Fernandez then had us clapping alone to a rather catchy little number dedicated to Santa. Closing the first half was the hilarious Sara Louise Aston (pictured), who shared with us some visual aids from her David Suchet shrine.
After the break, birthday boy Roger Clarke helped me with a little magic number before then going on to showing us how not to pull with the aid of Pi. It was then over to Elisa Cominelli and just why baked beans might be at the heart of Britain’s problems. Next was Ferdy Turral, who hopefully made it home without having his bag gone through by security…it’d be fun to watch him explain its contents, though. After Ferdy was William Milne and just why it was lucky for him that his parents weren’t big on fidelity. The fabulous SJ Wyatt was next and introduced the crowd to the LGBT concept of “reading”. Hot on SJ’s heels was Alex Groves, a lady with a name that means “defender of man”, although she admits she’d probably not defend most men from so much as a breeze. Ben Tulloh was next with just why his 2025 Dealer Wrapped list was a bit of a shock. Our afternoon’s penultimate act was Jenny Jope, who may have put herself on Julie’s 2026 mailing list. Closing the show was the hilarious Martina O’Sullivan, who has unsubscribed herself from the catholic Church…which may prove problematic with an Italian mather-in-law.
So that was Sunday afternoon at The Royal George. Next Sunday we’re back at The Star of Kings with headliners Mackenzie Pike and Sonny Savage.
