Wednesday, April 10th, The Bell

Sobin
Wednesday at The Bell was another busy, buzzing night of comedy. First to the stage was Jack Scullion and the final performance of the now legendary “Raoul the Cafe Owner”. It was then over to Declan Evans and how to harden up thanks to the right wardrobe. After Declan was Sophie Bing who might need to work on her less than alluring whisper. Jacob Tidmarsh then showed us some interesting dance moves, including the Itchy Chest and the Get That Shit Off My Shoe.It was then the turn of Indi Madray who smashed her set with some hilarious outtakes from her inner white van man. Karan Mehra then told us about his maverick brother, an Indian son who refuses to become either a lawyer, accountant or doctor. It was then the turn of some true nostalgia thanks to Pop Daddy (aka Paul Haworth) and why each generation gets the Blankety Blank presenter it deserves before Amber Phillips explained the real difference between football and rugby. Deniro B Stocks was next with the shocking realisation that two men mansplaining to each other might just tear a hole in space time. Closing the first half was Declan Kennedy and everything from erogenous ears to Emperor Palpatine’s new look and dog poo under expectant pillows.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Mark Vincent and just why radish emojis should be available on middle aged phones. After Mark was the hilarious Chris Chapman who admits to having gone through an extensive it’s not you, it’s me phase. However, he’s now in his “anyone interested phase?”. Mj Hunter then told us how arithmetic failings may have made him his school’s best little virgin. Atle Fretheim confessed to being dubious about warning his kids off alcohol as there’s a good chance none of them would be here without it. Lucy Jenner then shared the sad news that she was recently dumped…by her therapist! Next was the evening’s best dressed man, a title I gave up reluctantly, Sobin (pictured). Sobin sometimes worries life’s Truman show reality and he’s going to get bumped off as a minor character. The evening’s penultimate act was the brilliant Phil Green who’s a big hit with the Scandinavians…apparently. Closing the show was the wonderful Carwyn Blayney and everything from why New Zealand is just a big Wales, rugby nipples and the real camel toes.
So that was another great night at The Bell. Headlining next Wednesday we have Alex D. Love and Matt Smith.
