Wednesday, December 6th, Arch One

Jack Henson
Wednesday night saw us at Arch1 and what a great night we had with the kind of amazing atmosphere unique to The Arch. First to the stage was our most recent New Act winner, Mj Hunter. MJ was taken out of sex Ed at school for extra maths. We’re not sure that’s whether they thought he was enough of a stud or couldn’t add 2 and 2. It was then over to the festive musical cheer of Barbara Fernandez, who more than got the Christmas spirit going. Next was Ollie Taylor who reckons he could take a praying mantis in a fight. After Ollie we had the one and only Gary Walsh. Gary says he has three integral parts to his personality these days, but wishing long life to kids isn’t one.It was then the turn of Leo Ma, whose dad is Santa, the great big rainbow Santa. Sheila Belo then confessed to having recently done something sexy and Brazilian for a guy. He’s now missing his trainers! After Sheila was Bertie Lambert, who’s currently going through his builder’s bum phase. Closing the first half we had Mr Corporate, Phillip Cornwall. After a hard day at the thought factory, Phil likes to relax with a long thought shower before stir frying some new ideas in his thought wok.
After the break, and a little Christmas ghost story magic, we got off to a cracking start thanks to none other than The Milky Bar Kid, Ben Roberts, who reminded us just who the bars are on. After Ben was Jack Henison (pictured), who loves his skinny jeans. Which is just as well as he can’t get them off. Ryan Ward then treated us to some puppetry of the crotch thanks to Little Dicky’s love of chocolate biscuits. It was then over to Keith Mendes whose brother bladder was once possessed by a demon. Ben Marciano then gave us a new perspective on Halloween, one we’ll never forget. It was then over to Hidehito, the man with the great big, fat need for a visa. The evening’s penultimate act was the hilarious Barry Matthews. Backin the day, Barry wrote several times to Jimmy Saville, even enclosing a pic. He never heard back. Turns out he was no looker as a kid. Closing the show was the simply brilliant Paul Merryck. Paul had the room in tears of guilty laughter. Having been on the piss since the beginning of November (1982!), Paul shared some of his unique insights into being a player on the loose. Fabulous stuff.
Well that was the last G&B show at Arch One for 2023 and what a great night to finish the year on there. We’re back at The arch on January 10th. Hopefully see you then.
