Sunday at The Star of Kings was another great afternoon of comedy. First to the stage was Ollie Taylor, who has a deep rooted loathing for trams…and musical kids. It was then over to Steven Mayne and how to teach your kid to tell the grandparents to frog off. Declan Evans then confessed to not having being a great student and was never going to get good enough grades to go to Hogwarts. It was then over to Leo Ma who was originally named after the Saint of knife crime…and lives nowhere near Croydon! After Leo was Daisy Roberts with some great advice for the guys: don’t overshare with your girlfriends or you might get yourself a nickname you don’t want. It was then over to Rowan Williams who recommends going to Ireland, just not for the food. Stephen Portlock then explained the big difference between the different kinds of CBT therapy before Sharon Jackson told us she reckons Mother Earth is two bottles of gin deep and ready to hand her kid over to social services. Kristian was next with the weight of a name and the stress of spelling it. Closing the first half was the hilarious Graciela Martin. Graciela went from studying engineering to fashion, which means that at least the manslplaining is now done by gay men.
After the break we had some magic thanks to Adam B and the confusion of ADHD and the mystery of the hole…or was it a spot? Next was Sam Hampson and the political importance of understanding the difference between miners and minors before Alex Howard confessed he’s enjoying certain aspects of being divorce. Like being able to walk past a candle shop. Freddie Main then told us how he finally managed to butch up, by being the bit of rough teaching at a posh school. James Hurren then told us he’d love to go on Made in Chelsea…as a pipe bomber! The afternoon’s penultimate act was Christopher Donovan. Chris has a nearly black belt in karate, a skill he learnt from none other than Creepy Clive. Closing the show was the musical trio of Nicky Vere-Compton, Rubynia Reubens and Size Queen, the piano (pictured). This little trio gave us some toe tapping fabulousness and a jungle Tok rendition we all loved.
