Sunday afternoon, December 17th, Star of Kings

Pete Kinsella
December 17th was our last Sunday afternoon show of 2023 and a lovely gig it turned out to be. First to the stage was the hilarious Callum Mackenzie. Callum recently met a wannabe mole man who loathes working above ground. It was then over to Steven Mayne, a man with a mild Tupperware fetish thanks to his partner’s IVF treatment. Barbara Fernandez then gave us some Christmas song with a ditty about how to mess up Christmas…in style. It was then over to Belle Gold who can’t help wonder id chess players ever have chequered pasts. After Belle was Safwaan Rahman who reckons some of the best places to get your phone screen fixed is any number of butchers in Lewisham. Our next act was a bit of a treat for ask concerned. Julie (aka Tracey Bowman) gave us a dealer dem from the good people at Ann Summers home parties. It was then over to Declan Evans, whose two half brothers are the result of his dad’s early days as a magician. Closing the first half was Mark Vincent, the man’s whose wardrobe has been described as mugger proof. Now semi-retired, he can’t remember the last time he got some good wood on.
After the break, and a card trick that left the stage in a bit of a messy state, we got off to a great start thanks to Felix Parkin. Felix is from telford, whose bit and maybe only claim to fame is the HMRC. Kerry Thompson was next with everything from the royal Navy to Prince Andrew and clown make-up. After Kerry we had Ollie Nicholas and the male mating call that is the equivalent of whale song for lads. We then had Rosalie Van and some classy crowd work. Next was Hemang, who brings a new Incel comedy genre to the stage before the simply fabulous Sallyann Fellowes explained why a work colleague got a noose and full set of instructions as her secret Santa gift. Closing the show was the brilliant Pete Kinsella (pictured) and why Gildford’s property prices have historically been competitive. He also advises to never get into an argument with a flat earth goldfish.
Well that was Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings. There won’t be a gig next Sunday because, well, it’s Christmas Eve. So have a wonderful Christmas!
