Sunday afternoon, November 17th, Star of Kings

James Danielewski

Write-up by guest MC Barbara Fernandez

We had a fun Sunday at the Star of Kings – first up was Steven Mayne, who began with a confession: the crash of the UK economy was due to his sudden abstinence from a certain white powder. After Steven was Mac O’Donnell, who says why be Olympic athletic when you can be X-box convention athletic. Following Mac was Declan Evans, with the worst time to lose your faithful hound: when they’ve just learned to do their business on newspaper. Too bad dad was reading it at the time. Noni was next (aka Leonore Michalski). Noni says dating has become very difficult – for breaking what was a way more satisfying DuoLingo streak. Marcos Brito then gave us some cracking ‘homo hop’ beforeour final act of the first half, Arthur Mitchell, shared his latest conquest: he caught the eye of a very attractive woman…who then offered him her seat on the bus.

Our second half began, after some musical musings from the MC, with Stanislav Gunko. Stan is from Russia – or, as progressive Russians call it, eastern Europe – and he dreams in front of his favourite websites: Big Adventures, Space Travel, and RightMove. Next up was Charlie Bonel, whose physics degree has clearly made his dad proud – dad is now a flat earther. Dad may not believe in gravity, but he does believe the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. We then had Rob McAlone. Rob is getting better at accepting his OCD: he now recognises that if a bus crashes, it’s no longer because he stepped on with his left foot – it’s probably the brick he threw. Closing our second half was fabulously funny James Danielewski (pictured). James grew up in Grimsby – which elicited the appropriate audience reaction: a groan of mourning. Now, though, he lives happier days in colourful Brighton, frequenting a gay jujitsu club whose motto he has heartily adopted: come to jujitsu and get tossed.

So that was our Sunday at the Star! Join us next Sunday for G&B’s Music & Character Comedy show, the show where almost anything can happen…and usually does!
